Launched at the Viking New Gretna
facility in January 2003, AME has
rapidly proven to be the preferred technical
source for sophisticated marine
electronic installations and service.
Under the direction of Dave Morris,
general manager, Gus Buzby, service
manager and Todd Tally, sales manager,
AME was formed to provide Viking
owners with one-stop shopping for
electronic equipment with professional
installations and service. |
 |
The mission statement of AME is
that a properly designed and installed
electronics package can be turnkey
when the installation is done correctly
and sufficient training is supplied to
the owner and/or captain, not just
at the dock but also underway in real
conditions.
With AME, the process of choosing
electronics is as simple as turning on a
VHF radio. It starts with a phone call,
or a meeting with Dave or Todd in
New Gretna to discuss your specific
needs. |
|
You also can catch them at boat shows, or arrange a meeting at the
Viking Service Center South in Riviera Beach, Florida. Full-size templates of the equipment are used to demonstrate
where the electronics will fit and how
they will look at the helm.
Then, a
computer drawing is provided to show
an actual helm with the equipment
installed, allowing the owner and/or
captain to verify that they are satisfied
with the visibility, user friendliness and
overall aesthetics. |
 |
 |
| After the owner approves the electronics
package, a deposit for the work
puts the boat on the AME schedule.
Early scheduling means a hardtop boat
without a tower can usually be finished
at the same time it moves off the
production line. Tower boats usually
require 7–10 days after the tower
installation is complete to finish. |
|
| Technical drawings are then created that show how the installation will be wired as well as provide ease of service in the field. |
 |
After the work is completed,
your new Viking is sea trialed with a
company supplied captain and an AME technician. Each system is checked
and calibrated and the performance
parameters are documented. The result
is that when you come to take delivery
of your new Viking, your electronics
package is truly turnkey ready.
Whether you are outfitting a new
boat or adding technical innovations,
such as underwater lights or thermal
imaging cameras, AME has the expertise,
product knowledge and field
support to provide your Viking with
the best in marine electronics and
entertainment systems. |
