Palm Beach Towers, which is headquartered at the Viking Service Center South in Riviera Beach, Florida, continues to set the pace in marine welding and aluminum fabrication. In addition to building the magnificent tuna towers for the Viking 65 and Viking 56 demo boats, general manager, Drew McDowell, his design team and crew have completed 21 other Vikings. Word of Palm Beach Tower’s expertise has quickly traveled along the waterfront and the young company is now busy designing and building a tower for a custom boat as well.
Beyond meticulous CAD design and painstaking welding, Palm Beach Towers also is gaining a reputation for innovative styling. The group has been working on a 65 Convertible project for the owner who has requested a slightly higher hardtop to accommodate his rather generous height. In making such alterations, it is important that the boat’s profile be taken into consideration, and multiple side drawings were completed to illustrate how the boat will look with its extended top to the complete satisfaction of the owner.
Palm Beach Towers also has been busy with convenience innovations. The team is now offering a flush-mounted compact box, which drops from the flying bridge fiberglass hardtop directly over the helm to accommodate VHF radios or electronic display pods. Another new feature now available is a rod stowage compartment, which is built into the underside of the hardtop.
Palm Beach Towers is presently building the tuna tower for the new Viking 74 Convertible, the company’s largest boat to date, which is slated for an early summer launch in 2004. Be sure to give Drew a call to discuss your requirements when you are ready to order a new tower or other custom equipment. Drew also will be at our upcoming Miami Boat Show VIP Preview in January, which you can read about in this issue.
